2024 would be Dieter Stein 100 years old – an obvious reason for a long overdue tribute to this great, unknown artist of the post-war period in Germany.

As early as 1950, Dieter Stein attracted attention in his hometown of Würzburg with the first abstract paintingsthat had ever been seen here. As a result, the student of Josef Versl developed into the most important protagonist of post-war modernism in the region. In the 1950s, he took part in exhibitions on German contemporary art, among others in ParisHamburg and Tokyo involved. 

On Friday, the October 18, 2024 finds from 7 p.m. with the Exhibition opening The opening of the “Dieter Stein” retrospective took place with speeches by Benedikt Stegmayer (Advisor for Culture, Science and Economy, City of Würzburg, representing the Mayor), Marcus Andrew Hurttig (Director, MiK), Henrike Holsing (Curator, MiK) and Peter Stein (son of the artist). The speeches will be translated into sign language.

Admission is free. Registration is not required. Admission from 6.30 p.m.
